Yessenia grew up in Yuma, AZ. Yessenia holds a B.A. in Justice Studies and a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University, and a J.D. from the University of Massachusetts. Prior to law school, Yessenia volunteered as a child advocate with The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. While in law school, Yessenia has worked on asylum and cancellation of removal cases both as a Legal Intern at the Harvard Law School Immigration and Refugee Clinic and as a Legal Assistant at Lider, Fogarty & Ribeiro P.C. In her spare time, Yessenia enjoys baking, cycling, reading mystery novels, and playing with Belle, her chihuahua. As an IJC Fellow at FIRRP, Yessenia is looking forward to starting her immigration career where she will advocate for unaccompanied minors in Arizona.
