Shayan was born in Portland, Oregon but has lived in Seattle, Chicago, Mexico, and most recently, Tucson. She has been a teacher and mentor most of her life, most notably as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Mexico in which she worked at a rural university in the state of Puebla. As the daughter of Pakistani immigrants, she has a strong appreciation of different cultures and, of course, cuisines! Shayan speaks three languages and is currently learning Arabic. In her free time, she loves to read and watch documentaries about the world.
