Sarah was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. A first-generation college student, she graduated summa cum laude from Smith College with a B.A in Government and a minor in Latin American Studies. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, Sarah has always had a passion for migrant and refugee rights. She resolutely believes in learning from and giving back to your own community. As such, she has interned with Mi Familia Vota and Congressman Ruben Gallego as well as volunteered with Poder Latinx. She joined the Florence Project as a way to continue advocating for the dignified treatment and empowerment of vulnerable peoples. She enjoys reading, writing, watching films, and traveling in her spare time.
