Originally from Maryland, River graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Bates College in Maine. Prior to law school, River worked as an educator, completed two years of Americorps service, lived in Chile and Spain, waited tables, and worked at the Inter-American Commission of Women’s Rights. Post law school, she worked as a removal defense attorney at RAICES. River began working with the Florence Project’s Border Action Team in 2023 out of a desire to collaborate across borders and work alongside impacted populations in the fight for a more compassionate world.
