Karen was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco and emigrated to the United States with her mother at the age of eight. She is a first-generation college graduate from Benedictine University in Mesa, she received her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Spanish in December 2019. Before joining the Florence Project, Karen worked at a civil litigation personal injury law firm for two years. Karen has also been a Zumba instructor for the last six years at local gyms in the valley. On her spare time, she loves to take Zumba classes, read, watch movies, and spend quality time with family, friends and her fur baby Angel. Karen joined the Florence Project in June 2021.
