Karen was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. During her time at the UofA, Karen worked as a peer mentor for first generation students, was Vice President of community service within the Eller Hispanic Honorary and completed a Global Business minor in Fortaleza, Brazil. She also worked as a success coach at Pima Community College serving students in the community to earn their GED. After college in 2019, Karen moved to Phoenix, Arizona and worked as an Associate Consultant for an IT consulting company where she gained valuable project management experience. As a first-generation daughter of immigrants, Karen is extremely motivated by her strong passion for student and immigration advocacy. In her spare time, Karen enjoys spending time with Slinky, her dachshund puppy, and her family and friends.
