Susana joined the Florence Project in July 2021 as a Legal Assistant with the Tucson Children’s Team. Born and raised in Mexico City, she graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana with a Bachelor’s degree in law. Susana also obtained an LL.M. from American University Washington College of Law and an M.J. in Child Law and Policy with Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She has been a passionate advocate for children’s rights since she was a child herself. Her volunteer experiences at the Mexican Red Cross and Rotary International, where she worked with kids and helping children in need, showed her the importance of committing her life to social improvement. However, her internship with UNICEF, and professional experience as a consultant for CRIN and at the Consulate of Mexico in Orlando, Florida, contributed to her decision to focus her career on helping immigrant children. Susana loves hiking, reading, traveling, learning new languages, and spending time with her dogs during her free time. Her motto in life has been “if your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough” – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
Stay up to date with the Florence Project and our unwavering fight for immigrants' rights.
