Ana Sofía Cabello has been working with the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project (FIRRP) since 2019, when she joined the Detention Action & Response Team (DART), first as a Legal Assistant, later as a Senior Legal Assistant, and in 2023 as a Managing Legal Assistant.
Ana’s formal education is in Moral and Political Philosophy, with an MA in Venezuela and a Ph.D. in Mexico. Ana taught moral and educational philosophy for 10 years. When Ana immigrated to the United States, she found a new way to express her passion for social justice and education.
Ana was moved by the work of the Florence Project when she began working as a volunteer translator and interpreter for the Pro Bono team in 2018.
Ana is passionate about public education and is very proud and honored to support detained immigrants in Arizona using the pro se model started by the Florence Project in the late 1980s. Ana lives southwest of Phoenix and loves going on excursions with her two puppies and her partner.
Stay up to date with the Florence Project and our unwavering fight for immigrants' rights.
