Our Arizona Defending Immigrants Program wrapped up in July 2012 due to resource limitations and the mandate set forth in the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Padilla v. Kentucky on public defender offices around the country.  From April 2007 through July 2012 AZ DIP provided training, consultation and support to Arizona public defenders and private defense counsel about the immigration consequences of criminal convictions to minimize misadvice, ineffective assistance of counsel claims, and the necessity for post conviction relief.

For resources published by AZ DIP, including the Surviving Padilla book by Kara Hartzler and an updated chart outlining the immigration consequences of Arizona criminal statutes, please visit the resources section of our website.
