Artwork by a five year old Florence Project client detained for four months. From their legal advocate, Camille Auer, Florence Project Legal Assistant, “When they arrived to the facility, they were not ready to speak about anything that had happened to them. Over time (and a lot of drawing) they opened up to me about what caused them to come to the US. They were learning how to write their name so together, we signed the bottom of the artwork [redacted]. They insisted that I hang it up in my office and even asked for evidence that it truly was hung up (I had to take a picture of my office to prove to them that I was in fact displaying their drawing).”

I asked them to sign it [redacted] to make sure that once they are a famous artist, I can say that I have an original piece of their work.”
