Arein was born and raised in South Phoenix, Arizona, and recently graduated from Bowdoin College with his bachelor’s in Sociology and Latin American Studies. Coming from a mixed-status family of refugees and formerly incarcerated individuals, he is dedicated to helping end the devastating effects of family separation by the crimmigration system. Throughout college, Arein undertook several independent research projects focusing on various topics such as the deportation and criminalization of Southeast Asian immigrants, the constitutional foundations of immigration law, and the migrant imaginaries of deportees in Tijuana, MX. In his spare time, Arein loves to watch cooking videos, try out new recipes, mess around with his camera, and go on night drives. He speaks Vietnamese and Spanish, is currently learning Italian, and hopes to learn French in the near future.
