Act Today to Restore Life-Saving Legal Access Programs

On January 22, we received a stop work order on our Legal Orientation Program (LOP), a legal education and empowerment program partially funded by a federal contract. Through LOP, Florence Project legal staff deliver weekly Group Orientations educating people about their rights and possible defenses to deportation as well as small-group workshops on topics like how to prepare for a bond hearing and one-on-one individualized orientations. Without LOP, thousands of people will have no choice but to face the full force of the U.S. legal system with no information or resources at all.

We need your help to save LOP and other life-saving legal access programs. Please call your elected officials today and ask them to call upon the Department of Justice to reverse this stop work order and restore access to these critical programs.

You can reach your elected officials by calling the Congressional Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and asking for them. Please call three times to reach both Senators and your Representative. If you don’t know who your Representative is, click here
